About the event:

Bring along your best homecooking and you can claim bragging rights and fabulous prizes in categories designed to evoke your best and worst food memories.

  • Not-So-Secret Ingredients Challenge
Up for the ultimate foodie test? Enter our Not-So-Secret Ingredients Challenge and impress us with your delicious combination of chocolate, poblano peppers AND bacon.
  • From Grandma's Kitchen (Recipes off the Family Tree)
Would you rather have your Great Aunt Mildred's sponge cake than a trendy raw food kale and quinoa salad? Then this is the category for you!
  • What's in that casserole, anyway?!
Comforting and family friendly, casseroles can bring a community together--until it's time to crown a winner!
  • I didn't know you could do that with Jell-OTM
Whether you're adding marshmallows, tomatoes (!?!), or vodka, Jell-OTM makes it jiggle. Has your Jell-OTM dish got what it takes to shake an award out of our judges?

Even if you're not a Food Network StarTM wannabe, join us for the party featuring wonderful food from the Pond House, wine donated by CT Valley Views (ctvalleyviews.com), spirits by Onyx, and beer provided by Thomas Hooker Brewing Company. Guided tours of our exhibit Cooking by the Book: Amelia Simmons to Martha Stewart and a trip down food memory lane with our celebrity judges round out a vintage evening of food and fun. A canned food drive to benefit Hands on Hartford gives our retro celebration up-to-the-minute relevance by helping our neighbors in need.
