image 1_HepburnBanner KSUM copyDespite the fact that tomorrow is the first day of winter(!), some of us here at CHS are already planning for the spring. Just last week, we signed a contract with the Kent State University Museum to bring the blockbuster traveling exhibition Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen to Connecticut in April 2014 for its only scheduled New England appearance.

As many of you know, Katharine Hepburn is a Connecticut original and an American icon – she is also considered the greatest American screen legend by the American Film Institute. In addition to her acting work, her independent spirit and sense of style has been a major influence on women and fashion designers since the 1930s.

This exhibition will feature costumes from some of her most well-known productions such as The Philadelphia Story, Coco, and Adam’s Rib.

The exhibition will also include vintage movie posters, playbills, photos, and other Hepburn-related artifacts as well as an ensemble of her signature tailored beige trousers and linen jackets.
