Care package items for service members

During World War I, many Connecticut residents helped conserve food and send letters and bandages to soldiers fighting in Europe. Help continue that tradition by donating to the Connecticut Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers.

We are collecting the following items to send to service members deployed around the world:

  • GRANOLA BARS
  • MINI HAND SANITIZERS
  • WET WIPES (TRAVEL SIZE)
  • LIP BALM

Items will be collected through December 1, 2018 at the close of the exhibit, Facing War: Connecticut in World War I

Did you know that the Blue Star Banner was created during World War I? Families display the Blue Star Banner when they have a loved one serving in the Armed Forces. The Blue Star Mothers work to raise awareness of military families and to support service members.

To support the effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Connecticut Historical Society is closed to the public through July 31. All on-site programs and events are canceled during this time. Our Annual Meeting has been postponed until September 14. Click here for CHS's digital programs.
