Family Adventure Days
Experience Family Adventure Days at the Connecticut Historical Society! This summer program gives kids the opportunity to uncover the past through exploration and discovery. Join us for seven weeks of drop-in fun for the whole family! Each week we will explore a new theme from long ago by looking closely at artifacts, making crafts, playing games, and much more.
Family Adventure Days will run from July 9th to August 22nd on Tuesdays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, with the same program repeating on Thursdays from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. These programs are free with admission. Please visit our upcoming events page for more information regarding each week’s theme.
Come enjoy the fourth season of the Connecticut Historical Society’s outdoor concert series! The concerts will take place on the beautiful front lawn at 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford on the third Thursday of each month throughout the summer. Please see our upcoming events page for specific information regarding the artists who will be highlighted each month. Grounds will be open for seating and picnicking beginning at 5:00 pm, with the concert beginning at 6:00 pm.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be available at each concert, but families are also welcome to pack their own picnic dinner. We will also provide lawn games from 5:00 pm until the end of the concert.
All of the CHS outdoor concerts are free and open to the public.
Every Saturday at 2:00 pm, join us for a guided tour of our newest exhibit, Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow. This exhibit highlights the ways in which black Americans resisted oppression, defined their own lives, and found strength within their communities.
Exhibit Tours are free with admission. Please be advised this exhibit contains sensitive and graphic material that may elicit a strong emotional response.
