Building Public Education in Hartford: A Brief History

Oct 22, 2014 - Nov 30, 2014

Developed with the Hartford Public Library, this satellite exhibit visually explores the changing footprint of public schools in Hartford with an emphasis on how these buildings and institutions were affected by changing demographics and urban renewal projects. Photographs and illustrations from the CHS collection, as well as modern images of schools today, show some of the changes in Hartford’s built environment related to public education. This includes images of early Hartford school buildings, schools demolished or restored, and new schools built within the past 50 years.

Come visit this exhibit at Hartford Public Library until November 30, 2014.
