The First Congregational Church of Woodstock Celebrates 325 Years: 1690-2015

Nov 17, 2015 - Jan 16, 2016

This collaborative exhibition explores over 325 years of the church’s history. The story begins before the establishment of the church, when the land was inhabited by the Wabbaquassets and John Eliot came to preach. Over the years it went from following the Cambridge Platform (of congregational independence) to the Saybrook Platform (with a centralized organization), it built three Meeting Houses and invited thirty seven settled pastors. Today’s church has a rich history; it is “growing into our future, while grounded in our past”.
