Mary Morris
Mary Pamelia Felt was born in New York City on January 1, 1848, and in 1867 she married John Emory Morris of Hartford, CT. Between 1873 and 1924, she compiled 188 scrapbooks of the "Mark Twain's Patent" design. Fifty-two of them consist of stories of engagements, weddings, divorces, lectures, vacation plans, travels abroad, visits from dignitaries, Thanksgiving proclamations, and descriptions of inaugural balls from the Hartford Courant in Hartford and the Republican in Springfield, MA. The clippings and the scrapbooks are arranged chronologically, and each volume can be keyword searched once you open the PDF file below. To search using Adobe Reader, right click on the first page, chose find from the drop down menu, then enter your search term in the pop up box. You can also search all of the PDFs (excluding the index volume) using Google. This method is not guaranteed to find all instances of your search term but it will pick up a great many of them. To do this, go to www.google.com and enter search term site:www.chs.org/finding_aides/mmsocial/ in the search box, replacing search term with what you are searching from. Examples: Google's links will take you to the first page of the PDF.
