Behind-the-Scenes Tour: 100 Years of Connecticut Fashion

March 10, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm |

Whether it’s a yellow silk dress worn to Lincoln’s inaugural ball, or a psychedelic maxi dress from the 1960s, our costume collection tells the story of women’s fashion in Connecticut. We’ll share that story with everything from wedding dresses to corsets, but we’ll also explore how women worked to secure their health, freedom, and political participation — a story that shouldn’t be eclipsed by what they wore.

Visit storage and collection areas not normally open to the public, and learn how the CHS preserves the stories of Connecticut. Tours last approximately 1 hour and are appropriate for ages 12 and up. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Questions? Call (860) 236-5621×289 or email natalie_belanger@chs.org.

$10 for CHS members, $15 for non-members. REGISTER ONLINE HERE.

To support the effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Connecticut Historical Society will temporarily close now through April 22. We will re-evaluate the situation at that time. All public programs and tours are canceled during this time. We hope to reschedule some of the events if possible.
