Behind-the-Scenes Tour: G. Fox & Co., Hartford’s Iconic Department Store

Shopping in Hartford in the 1950s through the 1990s was synonymous with its largest downtown department store. Come browse through the CMCH’s collection of G. Fox memorabilia, store displays, and G. Fox & Co. branded products from scotch to toilet paper! Share your own pleasant memories of tea in the Connecticut Room, back-to-school shopping and the holiday decorations that made your visit special.

Visit storage and collection areas not normally open to the public, and learn how the CMCH preserves the stories of Connecticut.
