Concert: Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra

April 29, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please join us for a FREE concert by the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra. HICO will be performing the following pieces:

On Regression, Accumulation, and the Persistence of Ghosts – Lewis Nielson (b. 1950)
World Premiere – Matt Sargent (b. 1984)
What we talk about when we talk in 140 characters – Ryan Jesperson (b. 1981)
Wafting Mists – Daniel Morel (b. 1981)

And here’s a bit more about HICO:

Comprised of a roster of premier Hartford-based musicians, the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra is devoted to enrichment through superb artistry. HICO forges its independent path through the canon of musical literature, championing non-standard repertoire for chamber orchestra and large chamber ensembles, engaging audiences across Greater Hartford and beyond with provocative and innovative programming.

Now entering its ninth concert season, HICO has appeared as a guest ensemble at the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, Central Connecticut State University, and The Hartt School of the University of Hartford, among others. Their 2016-2017 concert season will include a residency with the Hartt School Young Composers Project, Eastern Connecticut State University, two Mainstage Concerts, and chamber music concerts throughout the Greater Hartford area.

With numerous world premieres to their name, HICO has introduced some of today’s leading young composers and concert soloists to the music scene. In April 2013, the ensemble presented five world premieres on one concert program from four of the East Coast’s up and coming young composers.
