Exhibit Opening Reception: That’s Weird

We invite CMCH members and special guests to join us for the Opening Reception for That’s Weird.

“That’s weird” is a phrase staff hears all the time in galleries and on tours. Visitors often encounter collection items that are quirky, surprising, or rare. But, take a second look and weird objects can have surprising and unique histories. The CMCH is excited to show off some of our funny little oddballs of history. Displaying many of these objects for the first time, the CMCH delves into how these objects, which at first glance seem strange, can be gateways into a deeper understanding and appreciation of our state’s history. Visitors will be encouraged to go beyond making snap judgments about objects to having deeper understanding, perhaps even empathy, for the people and stories connected to our state’s material culture.
