Opening Reception: Take Note! 75 Years of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra

May 20, 2019 @ 6:15 pm - 8:30 pm |

We invite CHS members and special guests to join us for the opening reception for Take Note! 75 Years of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.

Drawing from archival materials from the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and CHS collection, Take Note! 75 Years of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra celebrates the vibrant history of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra during their 75th anniversary year. The exhibit highlights the decades-long history of HSO, the people behind the music, and the important collaborations that have musically shaped the Greater Hartford community. It also explores HSO’s Listen, Share, Celebrate! initiative, which is a multi-season community music initiative that studies and then shares the diverse sounds of the Hartford region’s wide array of cultures, religions, and neighborhoods.

The evening will include a performance by the HSO Wind Quintet.  In the spirit of Take Note!’s celebration of 75 years of the Hartford Symphony, and its focus on music-making and community-building in our state capital, Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Wind Quintet will present a program that showcases the best of the HSO: iconic pieces of classical music as well as music that reflects the diverse community of Hartford that is HSO’s home.

Opening remarks will begin at 6:45pm, followed by the performance.

Please let us know if you are able to join us by May 15. Call (860) 236-5621 x238 or email rsvp@chs.org.
