Spring Vacation Program: Rock History!

Be an archaeologist for the day! Try out different activities during spring break to see how museums discover historic artifacts left in the ground. Come for one or both of our archaeology family workshops!

On Friday, April 13, join us as guest archaeologist Bonnie Plourde shows us why stone artifacts rock! Bonnie will demonstrate knapping and turn an average stone into an functional tool right in front of us. Kids can try cutting materials with different sharpened rocks, and compare stone tools used thousands of years ago by Native Americans in Connecticut. The workshop ends with a rock craft to take home.

This program is great for children ages 6-11. Parents must remain with their children at all times. This program is free for CMCH members and free with general admission to the museum for non-members. Interested in both workshops? Sign up for both Wednesday and Friday and you’ll receive a $4 discount per person on Friday. Reservations are requested at [email protected].
