    Family Activity Kits are free take-home resources for families to enjoy, bringing history and fun together in the comfort of your own home! With themes changing every other month, you can enjoy these kits all year long. September - October's theme is "Nutty Nutmeg State Experiments," an exploration of some of Connecticut's innovative creations - like toothpaste in a tube!

    Join us for family story time at the Museum! Cozy up with beanbags and enjoy a reading of a book all about creativity and innovation. Then, families will be challenged to embrace their own inventive spirit by getting crafty in the Inspire Center!

  • Family Program: Traditional Storytelling

    Join us for a day of stories and crafts with special guest storyteller Wunneanatsu Lamb-Cason! In her debut picture book, "Grandmother Moon," she celebrates the relationship between a grandmother and grandchild, weaving Indigenous teachings into a modern setting. The program will include live readings of her book and a variety of related crafts and activities that further explore the significance of the moon and storytelling.

  • Family Program: Journey to Prehistoric Connecticut

    Journey to the past right in your own backyard! Families will learn how to recognize dinosaur tracks and prehistoric plants that still live in Connecticut today, dig for replica fossils of Connecticut dinosaurs, and then create their very own fossil to take home!

    From hibernating to exploring, Connecticut animals experience winter in many ways! Through crafts and hands-on activities, learn about some of the ways these cuddly creatures stay warm (or not!) in the winter months. You can also make holiday poppers to celebrate the new year and decorate cards for loved ones!
