What happens when fire and water join forces? Join us for a special showing of "Elemental," and follow Ember, a strong-willed fire person, and Wade, a fun-loving water person, on their adventures through Element City and Firetown! Families will then get a goody bag to take home that includes hands-on activities related to main themes of the movie.

Espresso yourself with coffee art! Families will make one-of-a-kind coffee mugs, try their hand at cappuccino-inspired foam art, and design collages using a variety of coffee materials. For inspiration, families can explore the exhibit "Coffee: A Connecticut Story."

Lightning McQueen wins again! Join us for a special showing of Cars, a movie about a famous, trouble-making racecar who finds himself stranded along Route 66. Watch as he forms unexpected friendships with a group of silly, fun-loving cars and trucks from the tiny town of Radiator Springs. Families will then get a goody bag full of hands-on activities all about automobile manufacturing in Connecticut.

Family Program: Heroes on the Homefront

Why was Connecticut nicknamed the Provisions State? Families will explore the many ways Connecticans provided support during times of war. Shop with ration coupons, get thrifty with recycled materials, make WWII-era mess kits, and more!

Family Activity Kits – New Theme!

Family Activity Kits are take-home resources for families to enjoy, bringing history and fun together in the comfort of your own home! Please Note: This is not an on-site program. Each kit includes crafts, hands-on activities, and images of collection items all around a specific theme. May-June's theme is "Tune into History," an exploration of music throughout history!

Do you have a green thumb? No? That’s okay! Join us at the museum to make everything you need to make your garden truly one-of-a-kind – no gardening skills required! Families will paint rocks, decorate flower pots, and design their very own wind chimes to take home.
