Bicycle Bonanza

Join the CMCH for a day of fun for all ages! Enjoy a variety of bicycle-related games, crafts, and activities, and then play your way through The Bicycle Game!

Family Program: Backyard Barbecues

Get ready for summer barbecues! Families will decorate their own chef hats to wear, and decorate a cookbook filled with refreshing, summery recipes from the CMCH collection.

Family Program: Drawing Straws

What can you make with straw? From ornaments to nature-themed silhouettes, straw can do it all! Families will look closely at straw-based artwork by local artist Philitha Stemplys-Cowdrey, and then learn how to make their very own creation to take home.

Are you ready for fall? Families will look closely at historic images of autumn in Connecticut, make pumpkin decor, and play various fall-themed games, including pumpkin ring toss!

Family Program: Pastime of the Americas

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Museum! Families will explore the traveling Smithsonian exhibition "¡Pleibol! In the Barrios and the Big Leagues" to learn more about the experiences of Latinos and Latinas in baseball throughout history and today. Then, they will design a unique team logo, pretend to be a sportscaster, and more!

Family Program: Busy Day at the Museum

Jump into the world of Richard Scarry's Busy Town! Learn about the Connecticut author and illustrator who created this iconic make-believe world for children's books, pose in a photo booth with cut outs of some of the characters, play games, and design your own vehicle inspired by the whacky, one-of-a-kind vehicles driven by the citizens of Busytown!

Family Program: Snow Days

Visit the Museum for a day of snowy fun! Families will design one-of-a-kind snow globes, make holiday poppers to celebrate the new year, and decorate holiday cards to send to loved ones!

It's raining cats and dogs! Learn about some of the largest storms to ever hit Connecticut, pretend to be a weather reporter giving a forecast on TV, and then create your very own "storms in a jar" by performing special science experiments!
