The Connecticut Historical Society Needs Your Help Developing Their Next Exhibition!

Hartford, CT – The Connecticut Historical Society (CHS) has an exciting new exhibition opening this November, and YOU get to play a part in its development. The Bicycle Game will be a game-based experience in which visitors can discover the unprecedented surge in the popularity of bicycles during the 1890s. Thanks to entrepreneur Albert Pope and the Hartford-based Pope Manufacturing Company, Connecticut was a leader in bicycle production during that time.

The Bicycle Game will explore this moment in history in an interactive and playful exhibition designed for visitors of all ages, in groups, or on their own. In the galleries, visitors will find the history of the bicycle transformed by an angry villain into a series of games and puzzles that must be solved. This is where the CHS needs help from the public!

Ignatius Bogg, C.H. Wiley, Barnabus Boggs, and Leslie Lowliar are ready to become social media stars as they vie for the evil spot in this exhibition!

You will be able to vote for your favorite villain’s name on the CHS social media accounts:

Facebook: @CTHistoricalSociety

Twitter: @CTHistorical

Instagram: @CTHistorical (in the story, each Friday)

OR

cthistorical.typeform.com/NameTheVillain

The Name The Villain campaign will run from Monday, July 25 – Monday, August 8, with the winning name announced Friday, August 12.

The Bicycle Game will open to the public November 10, 2022 at the Connecticut Historical Society. Located at One Elizabeth Street, Hartford CT, 06105 and online at chs.org.

The Connecticut Historical Society (www.CHS.org) is a privately funded, independent, not-for-profit educational organization that includes a museum, library, the Edgar F. Through our collections, research, educational programs, and exhibitions we reflect the past, actively engage with the present, and innovate for the future.
