CHS will offer a bus trip to the Finnish American Heritage Society in Canterbury, where participants will tour the Hall, enjoy a Finnish lunch, and then visit several sites of historical significance to the community in eastern Connecticut.

Romulo Chanduví’s Work: A 21st Century Item Joins the CHS Collection

The CHS has accepted a beautiful piece of furniture with an interesting story into our collections. Crafted in 2009 by expert furniture maker Romulo Chanduví in his East Hartford studio, this 18th-century Spanish colonial style chair was designed as one of a pair for a long-time collector of Chanduví’s work.

CCHAP Special Event: Mas Camp Graduation

Join us to celebrate the completion of Mas Camp, our summer youth employment program. At the event, the teens will receive their certificates of completion, and will perform their dance routine in costume. The event is free and includes a sampling of Caribbean foods.

Family Class: Pysanky Egg Decorating

Join us for a special family class during February break and try out a new (and old) form of decorating eggs! Ukrainian pysanky master artist Paul Luniw will instruct families in pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian decorative art of creating intricately designed eggs. Children and adults will design and decorate their own egg to take home.
